Mickey & Minnie Mouse Beanie (NB size)




Materials:
Organic Cotton Yarn
Yarn Needle

Hook Size: 2.5mm, 2.0mm

Stitches:
Ch: Chain
SS: Slip Stitch
SC: Single Crochet
INC: Increase stitch – 2 Single Crochet in same stitch
DC: Double Crochet
DCINC: 2 Double Crochet in the same stitch
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet

This piece work TOP of the Beanie – TOP, DOWN. The ears will be created separately and sew onto the Beanie Top on R4 to R6.  


For the Minnie Mouse series, we will work the Bow separately and sew onto the beanie in-between the ears at R3.

Beanie:

Use 2.5mm hook – the Ch3 here count as 1 stitch.

R1: MC 15 SC, join with a SS to the first DC. (15)
R2: Ch3, DC in the same stitch. (DCINC) * 14 . Join with a SS. (30)
R3: Ch3 – count as 1 stitch, DC, DCINC. Work (DC, DC, DCINC) * 9. Join with a SS. (40)
R4: Ch3, DC, DC, DCINC. Work (DC, DC, DC, DCINC) * 9. Join with a SS. (50)
R5: Ch3, DC, DC, DCINC, DC. Work (DC, DC, DC, DCINC, DC) * 9. Join with a SS. (60)
R6: Ch3, DC, DC, DC, DC, DCINC. Work (DC, DC, DC, DC, DC, DCINC) * 9. Join with a SS. (70)

R7 – R16: Ch3, DC through till the end. Join with a SS. (70)

R17: Ch3, BPDC, FPDC all the way till the end. Join with a SS. (70)

R18: Ch1, SC through. Join with a SS. (70)

Cut off.

Ears x 2:

Use 2.0mm hook

R1: MC 6 SC. Join with a SS to the first SC of the row. (6)
R2: Ch1, work 2 SC in every SC created in R1 till the end. Join with a SS. (12)
R3: Ch1, work (SC, INC) * 6. Join with a SS. (18)
R4: Ch1, work (SC, INC, SC) * 6. Join with a SS. (24)
R5: Ch1, work (INC, 3 SC) * 6. Join with a SS.  (30)
R6: Ch1, work (2 SC, INC, 2 SC) * 6. Join with a SS. (36)
R7: Ch1, work (5 SC, INC) * 6. Join with a SS. (42)
R8: Ch1, work (3 SC, INC, 3 SC) * 6. Join with a SS. (48)
R9: Ch1, work (INC, 7 SC) * 6. Join with a SS. (54)

Complete 1st piece till R9, cut off. Work on 2nd piece and combined first piece (place back to back) together and crochet R10 together.

R10: Ch1, SC around 50 stitches. SS to the 51st stitch. (51)

Leave a long tail for sewing. Cut off.
Make 2 to complete a pair of ears.

By crocheting 2 pieces together, it can ‘stiffen-up’ the ears so that it stands when worn.

Sew on the pair of ears in-between R3 to R6, counting from the tip of the beanie.   

Bow:
