Materials:

Organic Cotton Yarn

Yarn Needle

Hook Size: 2.0mm

Stitches:

Ch: Chain

SS: Slip Stitch

SC: Single Crochet

SC2tog: Single Crochet 2 stitches together

DC: Double Crochet

This piece works from TIP of the mitten to the cuff – TOP, DOWN.

Mitten Body

R1: Ch3, 8 SC in 3^rd Ch from hook, SS. (8)

R2: Ch 2 (do not count as a stitch here), 2 DC in each stitch. SS. (16)

R3 : Ch2, *2 DC in the same stitch, 1 DC in the following stitch*. Repeat * to * to the end and join with a SS. (24)

R4: Ch2, *2DC in the same stitch, 1 DC in the next 2 stitches*. Repeat * to * and end with a SS. (32)

R5 – R 9: Ch2, 1 DC in all 32 stitches and join with a SS.

R10: Ch1, 1 SC in all 32 stitches and join with a SS.

R11: Ch1, 1 SC in the following 14 stitches. SC2tog. 1 SC in the next 14 stitches. SC2tog and end with a SS. (30)

R12: Ch1, 1 SC in all 30 stitches.

R13: Ch1, SC2tog, and 1 SC in the following 13 stitches. SC2tog and 1 SC in the next following 13 stitches, end with a SS. (28)

R14: Ch1, 1 SC in all 28 stitches.

Now we will work on the edge side of the mitten, to create the cuff of the mitten.

Cuff

R1: Ch16 turn and work 1 SC in the 2^nd Ch from hook. Then work 1 SC in the remaining 14 Ch. SS to join to the 2^nd stitch on the edge of the mitten.  (15)

R2: Turn, and work 1 SC on all the back loop of the 15 stitches created from R1 above. (15)

R3: Ch1 and turn, 1 SC  across the back loop of the 15 stitches created in R2. SS to the 4^th stitch from the edge of the mitten body. (15)

R4 – R27: Repeat R2 & R3 while SS to the respective 6^th, 8^th, 10^th…. stitch on the edge of the mitten all the way to R27.

R28: Ch1 and turn. Work 1 SC across back loop of the 15 stitches created in R27. Then SS to join to the last (28^th) stitch on the edge of the mitten body. Cut off, leaving a long tail behind for sewing the cuff.
