I krafted this specially for my son 1st Birthday Party because nothing beats handmade gifts filled with so much love. <3






Color Block Tee-shirt

Materials:
2 x 4 ply Soft Blue Color Cotton Yarn (50g)
2 x 4 ply Cream Color Cotton Yarn (50g)
3 x White Button
Embroidery Patch - Car logo
2.5mm Hook
Yarn Needle

Size:
Fits approximately 12 to 18 months old, depending on the build of the infant.

Stitches:

Crochet
Ch: Chain
SS: Slip Stitch
SC: Single Crochet
SC2tog: Single Crochet 2 together
DC: Double Crochet
DC2tog: Double Crochet 2 together

Beginning from the neckline àLeft Back ShoulderàBackàRight ShoulderàFrontàLeft Front Shoulder

Turn the piece the other way round working ‘back and forth’ all the way to ROW 10. At end of ROW 10, we will connect the 2 ends (Left Front ShoulderLeft Back Shoulder together) with a slip stitch and work on rounds starting from ROW 11 where we will create the Arm Holes too.  

We will then work separately on both Arm Holes and the Button Holes on the Left Front Shoulder Opening. 

To begin, Ch92 + 1, SC in the 2ndchain from hook. 

ROW 1:SC in the next: 10Ch, Ch 1, next 28 Ch, Ch1, next 16 Ch, Ch1,  next 28Ch, Ch1, last 10Ch. Ch3 and turn.

From Row 2 to onwards, work on DC stitch.

ROW 2: Work 1 DC in the next 9 stitches. In the Ch spacecreated on row 1, work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the next 28 stitches till you reach the next Ch space. In the Ch spacework “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Continue to work 1 DC in the next 16 stitches. In the Ch spacework “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the next 28 stitches until you reach the last Ch space for the row and again, in the Ch spacework “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the final 10 stitches. Ch 3 and turn. 

Following the pattern in Row 2 by substituting the number of stitches tabulated below and work all the way to Row 11. 

This is how we will segment out both the Shoulders;FrontBackwith Ch1 space created in-between the numbers of stitches to work out.

Row 10:Work 1 DC in the next 22 stitches. In the Ch space, work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the next 52 stitches till you reach the next Ch space. In the Ch spacework “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Continue to work 1 DC in the next 40 stitches. In the following Ch spacework “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the next 52 stitches until you reach the last Ch space for the row and work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC”. Work 1 DC in the final 22 stitches. 

End the row with a SS to the fourth stitch from the beginning of ROW 10to join the ‘Left Front’ & ‘Left Back’ together.  

Row 11:Ch3, flip over and continue to work 1 DC in the next 25 stitches. Work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC” in the Chspace. Work 1 DC in the next 55 stitches. Then work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC” in the next Chspace. Work 1 DC in the next 43 stitches. Work “1 DC, Ch1, 2 DC” in the next Chspace. Work 1 DC in the next 55 stitches until the last Chspace of row 11. Work “1 DC, Ch1, 2DC” in the last Ch space. Finally, work 1 DC in the last 18. Cut off yarn.  

Arm Holes and Body:

At Row 12, we will work on the Arm Holesand down the Bodyto the Waist Bandin rounds. 

Row 12:Join the Cream-colour yarn at the Ch space between Left BackBack. Work 1 DC in the next 56 stitches across the Back & DC2tog on the last 2 stitch right before the Ch spaceSkip the next 46 stitches and Ch4. Continue on in the next Ch space, work DC2tog in the next 2 stitches. Work 1 DC in the next 54 stitches. Work DC2tog, Skip the next 46 stitches and Ch4. Work a SS to join to the 1stDC of the row. 

Row 13:Ch3, DC2tog and work 1 DC across next 50 stitches. DC2tog, and work 1 DC in the next 6 stitches. DC2tog again and work 1 DC in the next 50 stitches. DC2tog and work 1 DC in the last 5 stitches. Join with a SS to the beginning of the row. 

Row 14:Ch3, DC2tog and work 1 DC in the next 48 stitches. DC2tog and work 1 DC in the next 6 stitches. DC2tog and 1 DC in the next 48 stitches. Work DC2tog and work 1 DC in the remaining 5 stitches. (DO NOT cut off the Cream yarn.)

Row 15 to 17:Re-join with Blue Yarn. Ch3, and work 1 DC around (in round). You should have total of 112 stitches including the Ch3 stitch. 

Row 18 to 20:Switch to Cream Yarn, Ch3 and work 1 DC around the next 111 stitch. 

Change the colour alternating every 3 rows until you reach Row 35 (Blue). 

Row 36 to 39:With Blue yarn, Ch1 and work 1 SC around, total of 112 stitches. Join with a SS. Cut off (including cream yarn) and weave in all loose end. 

Arm Holes x 2:

Row 1:Back to the Arm Holes, re-join the blue yarn at a corner of the under arm, Ch3 and work 1 DC around the arm hole. Do a decrease of 1 stitch each at each corner of the under arm with DC2tog (total 2 decreases). Join with a SS. 

Row 2:Ch1 and work 1 SC around, doing a decrease of 1 stitch each at each corner of the under arm with a SC2tog (total 2 decreases). Join with a SS. 

Row 3:Ch 1 and work 1 SC around, SS and cut off the yarn. Weave in excess. 

Repeat the same for the other side of the armhole too. 

Button Holes x 3:

Back to the Neckline, on the Left Front Shoulder opening, we will need create 3 button holes by doing SC along the side of the opening. 

Row 1:We will join the yarn at a corner of Row 1 wrong side of the Neckline, 1 SC across. (21stitches)

Row 2:Ch1 and turn over, SC 3 in the next 3 stitches. Skip the next 3 stitch and Ch3. *SC 3 in the following 3 stitches. Skip the next 3 stitches and Ch3 again. 

^ Repeat * to ^ to create the remaining 1 button hole. End the row with SC 3 in the last 3 stitches. Join with SS. 

Row 3:Ch1 and turn, SC across the 21 stitches. SS, cut off and weave in loose end.  

Lastly, sew on the 3 buttons in aligned to the button holes + the Car embroidery patch and you’re done~
